Please join me in congratulating the newly appointed Primary Executive Officers and wish them success to lead SGCI for the next two years. I would also like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere appreciation to the other candidates/nominees who have expressed their interests during the nomination process. The other positions of the Executive Staff which include the Vice President, Tournament Director, Secretary, etc., will be announced soon by the newly appointed President.

We are also pleased to announce the upcoming elections to elect five (5) new Board of Directors to take office for the fiscal year 2018 – 2019. In accordance with the statutes as described on Article 6, the Term of Office for BOD is two years and Article 7 Election Timeline states that the election will take place on the last week of October. A nominating committee will be appointed within the next few days to administer the election process. If you are interested to become a member of the BOD, please contact the election committee.

The 2017 Superior Cup regular season ended last August and the battle for the Playoff has officially begun between the top 20 qualifiers of the Nicklaus and Palmer class. The Playoff series consist of three rounds beginning on September 30, 2017 at Oak Quarry Golf Country Club in Riverside. The final round will be held in November 4, 2017 at Green River Golf Club in Corona which is also a tournament to celebrate the birthdays of SGCI members Sonny Bautista, Bay Perez, Alex Carlos, Boyet Carlos, Roy San Diego and Dante Pagilagan. Dinner will be served at the clubhouse immediately after the tournament. For more information about the SGCI Playoff rules, click the menu on Golf Rules and chose Playoff and championship.

The winners of the Superior Cup for both Divisions will represent SGCI to the SCGA tournament of champions in Palm Springs this coming December. This tournament will allow you to compete against top players of other Clubs all over Southern California. Players who did not qualify to advance to the playoff are still entitled to receive medal prizes and earn valuable points for the four team competition for the remaining tournaments of 2017 season.

The contest for the four team competition is still anybody’s game. With three more remaining tournaments this season, the 2nd and possibly the 3rd seeded team still have a mathematical chance of winning the competition if full participation of its members is achieved. Attendance is a critical factor to win the four team competition and we encourage everyone to participate in the remaining tournaments of the season not only to support your team but most important to have fun.

We are very pleased to announce that the new SGCI website has officially launched a few days ago. I would like to invite everyone to visit the website. The website is interactive and dynamic which essentially allow the user to interact through a message board, renew or apply for new membership, sign up on tournaments and the convenience of paying online through Paypal is now available. Business owners may now advertise their products at a minimal fee. If you wish to sell some of your personal stuff like old clubs or any golf equipment, let us know and we will advertise it for you. You are welcome to post your comments, suggestions, and feedbacks regardless if it is positive or negative. Your feedback is very important to our success. We value your comments so that we can improve our quality services and make improvements the way we run this Club. One of our goals is to continue to improve our service to you and more importantly to make our tournaments competitive and fun.

We are now accepting applications for new membership and renewal for fiscal year 2018. Membership fee including the SCGA membership is $75 which can be paid online. No fees for junior membership. This website would not have been possible without the true dedications and commitments of   Xman Tajonera, Ed Hontucan, Boyet Carlos and Ken Eugenio.

On behalf of the BOD and executive staff, I would like to thank all of you for your continued support, dedication and passion but most of all the confidence that you placed in us. Good luck in the playoff!!!

Sincerely Yours,

Alex Carlos
